The journey from Kuala Lumpur to Phuket 3 times reached by transport
A. Kuala Lumpur Hatyai (- / + 7 hours)
2. Hatyai Surathani (- / + 5 Hours)
3. Surathani - Phuket (- / + 6-7 hours)
Why keep changing? because bus operators from Malaysia only get permission to operate a bus to Hatyai route only. From Hatyai to Phuket nothing directly, but much of this route is popular for tourists. Becomes more of a bus bound for Bangkok via Surathani.
If you want to direct to Phuket from Hatyai then you use the "joint ticket" so keep buying bus tickets Hatyai-Phuket Surathani but later on you will be in oper. But if the bus is full (usually the holidays) then you do not have to go down in Surathani naek. Buses will continue to proceed directly to Phuket
